Helpful tips for real life with real kids

Quick answers you can trust—without the internet rabbit hole.

Brushing & Fluoride (0–6+)

Pea-sized fluoride toothpaste (rice-grain smear under age 3). Brush 2x/day. Parents help until kids can tie their shoes well.

Snack Smarts

Save sweets for mealtimes. Water between meals. Sticky snacks = sneaky cavities.

Mouthguards

Sports, scooters, skating—protect those teeth. Ask us about a simple custom fit.

First Visit Prep

Keep it casual, skip the scary words, bring comfort items, and arrive 15 minutes early. Watch for a text with eforms to complete before arrival.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should my child first see a dentist?

By age 1 or when the first tooth appears—whichever comes first. Early visits = easier habits.

My child grinds their teeth—normal?
Common and usually temporary. We’ll monitor and guide if it’s causing wear.
Pacifier—when should we stop?
At age one, the earlier the better to start healthy habits.
Do you see children with special healthcare needs?
Absolutely. We meet each child where they are—with patience, flexibility, and respect.
Bad breath—what helps?
Brush the tongue, especially the back. Keep up daily brushing/flossing and mention allergies/sinus issues.
Post-visit lip/cheek biting after numbness—what do I do?
Gentle reminder not to chew the numb area. If a bite happens, keep clean, rinse with warm salt water, and let it heal.
